Ultra Low Warm Mix Asphalt

05 June 2024

Paving the way through innovation.

With the help of Downer, Major Road Projects Victoria has used the first Ultra Low Warm Mix Asphalt in Australia for the M80 Ring Road Completion at Gabonia Reserve, Watsonia.

While it looks like normal asphalt, producing it at lower temperatures of around 110 degrees rather than 175 degrees means less chemicals are released, and carbon emissions are reduced during production.

Our aim is to get temperatures low enough so that we can produce asphalt with renewable electricity instead of gas or diesel – and create the first carbon neutral asphalt in future.
